In no particular order, here are the top 10 films I'm most looking forward to in 2019.

1. Toy Story 4

Now I can't pretend that when I heard they were making a fourth Toy Story film I wasn't a bit confused. I personally thought Toy Story 3 was a fitting end to the series and truthfully I didn't see where else they could go with it. This one does look a little bit disjointed in its plot, I guess because it doesn't include Andy so it just feels a bit like its on its own. None-the-less, I'm still gonna be first in line to see it, I love the Toy Story films and it will be lovely to see all our old favourites on the big screen again. The anticipation for this one is more in fear than excitement; I just hope it doesn't fall short.

2. Spiderman: Far From Home

I loved Spiderman: Homecoming so I'm very excited to see what they do with this next one. I'm thinking its going to have a bit of a darker tone compared to the first one, as it comes after the events of Endgame, and just judging by the trailer Peter isn't doing so great. Still, it looks like it has a great mix of action and humour, and Spiderman has become a personal favourite of mine these last few years, so it will be great to see the characters again, and witness the widespread aftermath of Endgame.

3. The Lion King

There's a real Disney theme going on here I know, but what can I say its a good year for them. This one is similar to Toy Story 4, I'm excited for it because it looks great, but also I have been wary about the live action remakes. I've not been disappointed so far, so I'm hoping this one continues their positive streak, but this one is a big film to remake. Saying that though, it looks visually incredible and it doesn't look like they've changed the story at all, which is what you would expect, so all in all it's shaping up to be another good one. It is strange we've had so many remakes in one year, but its still exciting to see what they turn out like.

4. Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood

Tarantino is back again with a star studded cast and what looks to be a visually gorgeous movie. Going by the trailer it looks very old school Hollywood, which is fitting as that's exactly what its about. I love a film that's a bit meta, and this film looks like its gonna be just that, a look at the life of Hollywood stars in the 60s. It looks like classic Tarantino; lovely to look at, plenty of fight scenes and wonderful performances sprinkled in too.

5. IT: Chapter 2

I really enjoyed the first instalment of this series so I'm very much looking forward to seeing where they take it with this one. I've not read the book or seen the original IT, but I know the general idea is that the Losers Club, now all grown up, come back to Derry to defeat Pennywise again. The cast looks great and you can really see each of the young versions in their adult counterparts. The trailer is wonderfully creepy and sets up the tone really well. What I really loved about the first one was they didn't rely on cheap jump scares all the time, but instead let Bill Skarsgard go wild with the character and get the full creepiness from it, so I really hope they stick to that in this one.

6. Zombieland: Doubletap

I LOVE Zombieland. Like, really love it. It's one of my go to films, if I don't know what to watch, I'll stick it on. So you can imagine I am equal parts buzzing and terrified for this sequel. The original cast is returning which is already a step in the right direction for me, as they all worked so well together in the first one, and they built relationships I would like to see again. I have high hopes for it, and I'm excited to watch the trailer when it comes out to see where they've gone with the story. I'm sure I'll enjoy it regardless though, just because I have so much love for the first one.

7. The Addams Family

This just looks like a great family film for around Halloween. I really enjoy the original Addams Family films so its really interesting to see an animated version aimed at children. While the originals were meant to be family films, there were scenes in there that weren't really targeted towards kids, so this new animation will be an enlightening experience. The animation style fits nicely with the tone, and the cast looks good. The trailer doesn't show us much of a story, so it will be intriguing to see where they go with it.

8. Frozen 2

The lack of original films from Disney recently has been a bit strange, but that doesn't stop being super excited for a sequel to one of their most successful films ever. I thoroughly enjoyed Frozen, and I haven't watched it an awful lot since its release which I think helps with the enjoyment when I do watch it. The new trailer released JUST NOW looks so good and I love the music, it gives me chills. The characters seem to have grown and I think its gonna be really cool to watch them together again. I have no doubt Elsa is gonna get another showstopper song, how can you not with Idina Menzel's voice, but I'm almost hoping they go in a completely different direction from Let it Go. It will be very hard to top that, so it'll be interesting to see where they go with it.

9. Midsommar

Ari Aster is back at it again, the fiend. I've still not recovered from Hereditary and now he's back to do it to me all over again. We know Aster can make a kick-ass film, so I can't wait for Midsommar. It looks like its gonna be very similar to Hereditary in terms of the cult themes, and the scary music he used, but they're pretty much the only similarities. The fact that most of it seems to be set in the day time freaks me out; it tells me its gonna be very psychological and less jumpy, which is exactly what he did right in Hereditary. I'm very much looking forward to seeing it, albeit pretty terrified too.

10. Joker

I'll be honest, I don't know much about Batman or the Joker and I've never seen him in any other film (apart from that one, you know) so I really have very limited knowledge going into this. What I can say though is it looks very good, the editing on the trailer alone is enough to show me how brilliant its gonna be visually. Jaoquin Pheonix's performance looks great and he seems to be capturing the essence of the Joker as I know him. It looks like the film is going to tell us the more human story to the Joker, which will be really interesting to explore, and I personally am always intrigued by origin stories. It'll be a different one for me, but I'm looking forward to it.
